[Calculus] Derivative of x^(1/3) using the definition?

Why not just use the power rule? d^(n) = n(d)^(n-1) = dx so like (1/3)x^(-2/3) is the derivative. Also you can go to wolframalpha and type it in and it will solve it and show the steps.
