Burnt terminals, is my sub blown?

While playing my type r with mrp-m500 the sub quit playing. I looked at the terminal on the box and the negative connection plastic was melted upward(when I did install the negative push terminal was loose but worked fine), the ground terminal was burnt and came undone when I pulled on it. How would this happen, and could the sub be blown?
